MASSEY, ON – The Iroquois Falls Storm scored three unanswered goals in the third period as they went on to a 5-2 win over the Elliot Lake Vikings at the Massey and District Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Lucas Peever had 1 goal and 1 assist for the Storm.

The two teams got the offence going in the final minute of the first when Patrice Lafontaine put home his 10th on a Storm power play. Lafontaine slid a rebound off a one-time shot by teammate Charlie Crump, who got a nice pass into the slot from Landon Trethewey which beat the Vikings goalie Sam Keene.

The Vikings got it back a few seconds later, as after the Vikings won an offensive zone faceoff, Nate Dugwell walked into the slot and fired a shot by Connor Hatfield to make it 1-1 at 19:48 of the first.

The Storm cashed in on a nice transition play as Isaiah Felix fed Lucas Peever in the slot on a 2 on 1 and beat Keene for the 2-1 Storm lead at 9:22 of the middle frame.

The Vikings evened things when Owen Kahl, the trailer on the play picked up a pass from Nathan Marincola and his shot from the slot evened things at 2-2 at 12:58.

The Storm took advantage of an offensive zone faceoff as Charlie Crump got it to Michael Leech; his quick release fooled Keene to give the visitors a 3-2 lead at 3:02 of the third.

The Storm again took advantage of another offensive zone faceoff win as Krisjanis Fugalis blasted a slap shot by Keene on the power play on a feed from Peever which made it 4-2 at 12:04.

Then it was Tyler Corbett who took a feed from behind the net from Andre Cho which made it 5-2 at 12:35 of the third.

The victory improves the Storm record to 14-32 while the Vikings drop to 5-33-1-4.
