POWASSAN, ON – Chase Thompson scored twice to lead the Powassan Voodoos to a 6-3 win over the visiting Iroquois Falls Storm on Saturday night at the Powassan Sportsplex.

The Voodoos opened the scoring when Caleb Dawson fed newly signed forward Will Rivet and his backhand beat the Storm netminder Brodie Haylock for a 1-0 lead.

On a power play, the Voodoos increased the lead when Rhys Smetham got a pass in the slot and he made no mistake for a 2-0 lead.

The Voodoos added on early in the second as Tucker Shields tipped a Carson Ricci shot by Haylock for.the 3-0 voodoos lead.

On a Storm power play the visitors cashed in on as Patrice Lafontaine’s scored his 9th making it 3-1.

The Voodoos responded on a power play of their own when Zach Turner potted his 14th from the slot as he has now 8 goals in the last 8 games.

Less than two minutes later, Chase Thompson got a nice feed in the slot from Chase Thompson and he beat Haylock which made it 5-1 Voodoos after 2.

Voodoos made it 6-1 when Chase Thompson put home a rebound from a Mike Maclean shot through the legs of Haylock early in the third.

In the slot, the Storm’s Michael Leech got a loose puck and shovelled it into the cage by Voodoos goalie Patrick Charette on the power play and made it 6-2.

The Storm continued to push as Lucas Peever converted on a 2 on 1 and made it 6-3.

Voodoos goalie Patrick Charette got the win making 31 stops as he improved to 3-0 on the season.

With the victory the Voodoos improved to 27-16-0-2 while the Storm dropped to 13-32-0-2.
