IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – The Powassan Voodoos stormed back from a third period deficit to defeat the Cochrane Crunch 4-3 Friday night in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League neutral site affair at Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls.

After a scoreless opening frame, Cochrane clicked twice in the middle frame to go up by a pair thanks to tallies from Kyle Herbster while shorthanded and Laramie Kostelansky at even strength.

Powassan got one back with a man-down effort of their own just past the five-minute mark of the third from Nicolas Case.

The Crunch came right back though with a power play goal from Noah Bennett at 7:31.

Battling back, the league-leading Voodoos moved to within one once more as Quintin Loon-Stewardson notched his 12th of the season with 9:36 to go while his side was up a skater.

They then tied it with three and a half minutes remaining in regulation as another rookie, in Tomas Yachmenev, knotted the affair at 3-3.

Powassan then finished off the rally 63 seconds later as Loon-Stewardson picked up the game-winner with his second goal of the evening and 13th overall.

Shane Beaulieu had two assists to aid the Voodoos’ comeback.

Christian Cicigoi was called up to make 45 saves for Powassan in the triumph while Shayne Battler faced 39 shots in defeat for Cochrane.
