NOJHL announces Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week
SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Timmins Rock forwards Aaron Kerr and Zachary Kercz along with Cochrane Crunch rookie Tyler Minoletti have been named the Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the week, for the period ending Jan. 3.
AARON KERR, (F) TIMMINS ROCK – The 19-year-old Timmins product began 2016 by notching four goals helping the Rock win a pair of road games over the weekend.
Kerr started off by notching a hat trick, which included the game-winner, as Timmins topped Rayside-Balfour Saturday.
He then added another marker Sunday in his club’s triumph at Elliot Lake.
Since returning home to Timmins in early December, Kerr has scored seven times in as many outings for the Rock and also doled out four assists.
He enters play this week riding a five-game point streak.
ZACHARY KERCZ, (F) TIMMINS ROCK – Kercz continued his solid 2015-16 season over the weekend amassing five points in his squad’s two away wins.
The 20-year-old from Aurora, Ont., dished out three assists in the Rock’s victory over Rayside-Balfour Saturday evening.
Kercz then set-up two more tallies Sunday as Timmins skated away with the decision in Elliot Lake.
He leads the Rock in offensive production so far this season with 59 points in 36 games on 18 goals and a NOJHL-best 41 assists.
Kercz is also tied for third overall in league points.
TYLER MINOLETTI, (F) COCHRANE CRUNCH – The Cochrane first-year forward excelled in his lone contest of the week notching a hat trick, including the game-winner, to help the Crunch clip Iroquois Falls Saturday night at the Tim Horton Event Centre.
The 18-year-old Thunder Bay, Ont., native has 13 goals for Cochrane so far this season, including a four-tally night back in November.
Minoletti also has 13 assists to his credit giving him 26 points in 30 games for the high-scoring Crunch, who lead the NOJHL in total goals with 201.
