NOJHL announces  Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League has announced that forwards Nathan Hebert of the Soo Thunderbirds, John Stevenson of the Cochrane Crunch and Nicholas Siracuse of the Powassan Voodoos have been named the Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the week, for the period ending Dec. 13.

NATHAN HEBERT, (F) SOO THUNDERBIRDS – In three games last week the 20-year-old Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., product had points in each of them helping his hometown team skate to a trio of victories.

Hebert began picking up an assist in a 4-1 triumph over Rayside-Balfour on Dec. 9.

Three nights later he set-up two tallies, including the game-tying effort late in regulation, as the Thunderbirds went on to defeat Powassan 3-2 in overtime.

Hebert then capped off his week by doing out three assists Sunday as the T-Birds topped the Canadians 5-2 in Chelmsford.

On the season he has picked up 24 points in 28 games, including six goals.

JOHN STEVENSON, (F) COCHRANE CRUNCH – The 20-year-old Manhasset, N.Y., native reached the 20-goal plateau in the NOJHL last week as part of the six points he accumulated for the Crunch in three Cochrane wins.

Stevenson started off with a hat trick and an assist in a victory over French River.

Next up was an assist in a road win at Timmins before capping over his efforts with tally No. 20 as the Crunch topped Iroquois Falls Sunday.

Stevenson is tied for sixth in the league in goals with 20 and is knotted for 13th overall in points with 38.

NICHOLAS SIRACUSE, (F) POWASSAN VOODOOS – The 19-year-old Siracuse, who calls Buffalo, N.Y. home, had five points in three road games for the Voodoos aiding their efforts in picking up five of a possible six points away from home.

Friday night saw him score twice and set-up another as Powassan blanked the Soo Eagles at Pullar Stadium.

Saturday he earned an assist in an OT setback vs. the powerful Soo Thunderbirds.

Siracuse then added another helper in an OT triumph at Blind River.

On the season the Voodoos forward has scored five times and set-up 16 others for 21 points.
