GALLERY: Lumberjacks take down Storm for 8th win in a row

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – Continuing their winning ways, the Hearst Lumberjacks collected their eight consecutive victory Saturday in an 8-2 triumph over the Iroquois Falls Storm in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at Jus Jordan Arena.

The Lumberjacks wasted little time in striking first as William Pâquet was set-up between the circles by Cameron Menard and whipped a shot by Storm starter Nathan Boudreau, 38 seconds into the contest.

Taking control early, Hearst tacked on two more before the matchup was six minutes old to go up 3-0.

Mathieu Comeau set-up the second marker as he wheeled into the Iroquois Falls zone with speed before pulling up and finding Julien Trudel moving down the slot where he quickly converted.

A red-hot Luc Warner then upped a point streak to 10 as he cranked in a one-timer off a feed put his way in the left circle by Dylan Garvin.

With that, the Storm opted to make a goaltending change as Lucas Cardiff-Bildeau entered in long relief.

Hearst however kept coming and notched two more in the session when to break it open.

After Hunter Kelso popped in a nice pass down low from Nathan Seed for their fourth, Chase Thompson tipped in a Garvin attempt to make it 5-0.

Adding to their cushion in the second stanza, Menard connected on the power play at 4:23 for his 35th overall on the campaign by steering in a Ty McKay set-up.

Iroquois Falls got one back a Colin Jennings collected his first NOJHL goal by neatly redirecting a Ryan McCoy shot from the right side over the shoulder of Lumberjacks’ netminder William Stonehouse.

The Storm then made it 6-2 just before time expired in the period, during a man advantage, as Rafek Dianov put a play in front that hit off the skate of Owen Goodwin and skipped over the goal line.

In the third, Mavrick Chan-Miguel was left with a tap-in off nice set-up from Nathan Seed before Thompson capped off the scoring with his second of the night and 23rd overall midway through the session by finishing off a rush to the net by Paquet.

In running their winning streak to eight, Hearst improves to 28-8-0-3 on the season and in defeat, Iroquois Falls drops to 12-24-2-3.
