IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – A back and forth Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League affair Saturday saw the Greater Sudbury Cubs skate to a 4-3 decision over the Iroquois Falls Storm at Jus Jordan Arena.

Greater Sudbury picked up the lone marker of the first period when Noah Kohan clicked on a power play at 13:20 as he knocked in a play put through the crease by Lucas Signoretti, past netminder Connor Hatfield.

The assist gives Signoretti points in five straight outings.

Tying it up early in the second, Andre Cho lifted in the equalizer against a sprawled Matthew Vahramian in the Cubs net.

Another man advantage put Greater Sudbury back in front at 13:01 as Samuel Assinewai whipped a shot upstairs on Hatfield from the left side.

A last second buzzer-beater drew Iroquois Fall level once more as Lucas Peever took a Max Jugnauth pass and wired it in just prior to the period coming to a close.

Assinewai added another early in the third as he cruised down the slot unmarked and ripped in a Signoretti pass from the corner for his 12th of the season to put the Cubs back in front.

Cho got that back for the Storm half way through the period as he took a Landon Trethewey feed from in deep and roofed it on Vahramian.

Answering back a couple of shifts later, the Cubs’ Kohan snagged a turnover in the left circle and pumped it upstairs at 11:37 for the eventual difference maker.

The victory raises Greater Sudbury’s record to a league-best 16-2-1-1 and with the narrow setback, Iroquois Falls slips to 8-13-0-0.
