COCHRANE, Ont. – Caleb Dolman notched a hat trick and added an assist to help send the Cochrane Crunch on their way to a 5-1 win over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners Saturday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League Polar Bear Classic action at Tim Horton Events Centre.
A splendid power play marker by Austin Whelan gave the home side the lead midway through the first period.
The Crunch added to their lead early in their second with Dolman sliding in his initial tally 73 seconds into session.
He then added another a few minutes later to put Cochrane up by three before he helped set-up Austin Heidt at 6:20 to make it 4-0.
The Gold Miners would eventually get on the board with 11:34 left in the contest on a Christian Snyder marker.
However Dolman finished off his four-point night after that to wrap things up offensively.
Ryan Mooney and Alex Morawski chipped in with two assists apiece to aid the Crunch offensive cause.
Earning the victory between the pipes for Cochrane was Carson Boutin who finished with 34 stops while Greg Brassard faced 49 shots in defeat for Kirkland Lake.
Semifinal action goes Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at both THEC and Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls while the championship game is at 6 p.m. back in Cochrane.
