Crunch East Division Champs

Cochrane earned their way to the NOJHL championship series after defeating the Powassan Voodoos 7-4 Wednesday evening in Game 4 of their East Division final at the Powassan Sportsplex to take that best-of-seven affair in four straight contests.

The Crunch will now meet the winner of the West Division final between the Soo Thunderbirds and Elliot Lake Wildcats, which Sault Ste. Marie currently leads 3-1 heading into Game 5 in that best-of-seven Saturday at Essar Centre at 7:30 p.m.

Dustin Cordeiro had another big night offensively for the Crunch, notching a hat trick as the Cochrane forward extended his NOJHL-playoff leading point total to 20.

The visitors got off to a quick start grabbing an early 2-0 lead on markers by Daniel Stagg and Cordeiro.

Michael Silveri put Powassan on the board 11:40 into the contest to make it a 2-1 game after one period of play.

Cochrane took control in the middle frame scoring four times to go up 6-1 after the middle stanza.

After Henry Berger had one shorthanded, the Crunch added even strength efforts from Cordeiro and a pair by Dylan Sakatch to add to their cushion.

Battling back, the Voodoos picked up two power play markers from Silveri, to give him three tallies on the night and make it 6-3.

Cordeiro countered however just over a minute later to put the visitors up by four.
