GALLERY: Beavers overtake Storm

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – Daniel Vasic scored three times to pace the Blind River Beavers to a 9-4 win over the Iroquois Falls Storm in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest at the Jus Jordan Arena on Saturday night.

Jesse Dupuis also had a big night for the visitors contributing a goal and five assists in the triumph.

Near the five-minute mark of the opening period Beavers star scorer Vasic ripped a one-timer, his 30th of the campaign, from the top of the left circle on an early Beavers power play for the early 1-0 lead.

Late in the period, Vasic was at it again as he picked up a loose puck at the side of the net and beat Brodie Haylock for a 2-0 Beavers lead at 19:02.

Seconds later, Owen Arnold took a drop pass on a 3-on-2 and his shot slipped by Haylock which made it 3-0 with only 12 seconds left in the opening frame.

Early in the second, the Beavers added on again as Jesse Dupuis for his 27th only 16 seconds into the middle frame.

The Storm finally got on the board as Lucas Peever netted his 15th on a Storm power play at 5:07 beating Beaver goaltender Gavin Disano.

Late in the second, the Beavers power play went to work again as Michael Gallagher netted his 24th which made it 5-1 after two periods of play,

Early in the third, Gallagher put home his second of the game, and 25th on the season for a 6-1 lead.

The Storm responded less than two minutes later as Max Jugnauth got his 12th at 3:28 to cut the Beavers lead to 6-2.

Vasic completed his hat trick just over a minute later for a 7-2 lead.

Just past the middle of the third, Tyler Vorstadt notched his 4th which made it 8-2 Beavers.

A minute after that, Michael Leech recorded his 10th of the season for the Storm as it was 8-3.

Benjamin Armatage got one back for the Beavers at 13:35 which made it 9-3.

However, the Storm continued their no-quit attitude as Ben Sherwin notched his 12th at 16:23 to cap off the scoring.
